Subdued
Subdued is a series of self-reflective work made in response to cultural complacency that normalizes violence and domestic abuse. It highlights intrusive thoughts and recurring cycles of depression maintained by selective memory and a reluctance to face reality, resulting in self-inflicted entrapment perpetuated by the need to hold on to idealized perceptions. Graphite, charcoal, and ink on paper, 14x18 each.
